How We Design, Source and Install Your Solar System
Every Bigfisch installation follows the same six stages: a free site visit and technical review, a firm system design and proposal, contracting (and financing, if needed), SSEG registration with your municipality where applicable, sourcing of Tier-1 certified equipment, and installation, commissioning and handover with full Certificate of Compliance documentation.
The technical side: How we design a system that fits your site
Every system starts with a technical review. Our engineers look at your site’s roof or ground space, orientation and shading, your load profile (how much electricity you use and when) and, for a grid-tied connection, what your local grid can support. That review turns a rough estimate into a firm, accurate design, sized to what your home or business needs. Whether it’s a family home or a 150kW farm system, the engineering comes first, the equipment is chosen to match it, and the price you’re quoted is based on your site specifications.
Where your equipment comes from
The panels, inverters and batteries in a Bigfisch system are sourced from manufacturers we have long-standing supplier relationships with: Jinko Solar for panels, Solis for inverters, and Sunwoda or Dyness for battery storage.
These are Tier-1, internationally certified components, not unbranded or grey-market equipment, and every system is backed by manufacturer warranties: typically, 25 years on solar panels, 5 on inverters, and 10 years on batteries (Lithium LFP, 80% depth of discharge, protected by a battery management system).
Registration, Compliance and your certificate of compliance
A solar and battery system isn’t something you can just switch on. Every installation needs to be registered with your municipality, a process known as SSEG (Small-Scale Embedded Generation) registration. Before it’s authorised for use, it needs a Certificate of Compliance (COC) confirming the electrical work meets safety standards. This isn’t just a formality: an unregistered or incorrectly wired system can be genuinely dangerous, and some municipalities can issue a contravention notice or force a disconnection on a system that was never registered.
We handle the SSEG application and issue a full Certificate of Compliance in line with your region’s requirements with every installation, not leaving you alone to navigate the process.
How we do it, step by step
Our certified and trained engineers, installers and project managers approach every step with dedicated focus to ensure every step is done correctly and ensures the system is the right one for you.
Free site visit and technical review
Our engineers assess your roof or site, orientation and shading, and your electricity usage. For larger sites this includes load logging and a grid assessment.
Firm design and proposal
A system sized to what you actually use, with a firm price, payback and, for residential, an LCOE and 20-year saving figure.
Contracting and financing
Terms agreed and signed. If you need finance rather than paying cash, this is the stage we can help arrange this for you.
SSEG registration
Where applicable, we submit the Small-Scale Embedded Generation application to your municipality on your behalf.
Sourcing and site preparation
Tier-1 equipment is procured through our direct manufacturer relationships, and the site is prepared for installation.
Installation, commissioning and handover
Installed and tested by our own team, Certificate of Compliance issued, monitoring set up, and for larger systems your team is trained on how it operates.
Larger commercial and agricultural projects follow a slightly more detailed version of the same process, typically including a signed letter of intent and a credit review stage before contracting.
The shape of it doesn’t change: review – design – register – source – install – hand over.
Curious how this would work for your site? Book a free site visit with no obligation and never a hard sell.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need council approval to install solar?
Every installation needs to be registered with your municipality, yes (SSEG), and issued a Certificate of Compliance before it’s switched on. We handle both as part of every project. See our SSEG Registration Guide for the full process.
Where do your solar panels, inverters and batteries come from?
We source Tier-1, internationally certified components directly from manufacturers we have long-standing relationships with: Jinko Solar, Solis, Sunwoda or Dyness, backed by full manufacturer warranties.
Will my roof or site be able to handle a solar installation?
That’s exactly what the technical review at the start of every project checks: roof or ground condition, orientation, shading and your electrical infrastructure, before any design or quote is finalised.
Why choose Bigfisch over another installer?
Design, procurement and installation are all handled by our own in-house engineering team; nothing is subcontracted out, so there’s a single point of accountability from your first visit through to your Certificate of Compliance.
