What size generator do I need for loadshedding?

Add up the essential loads you need to keep running (lights, fridge, Wi-Fi, security, pumps) and size the generator to comfortably cover that total, with some headroom for motor start-up loads. A site assessment gives an exact recommendation rather than a rough guess.

What’s the difference between prime-rated and standby-rated generators?

Prime-rated generators are built to run for extended periods with a variable load, suited to regular loadshedding use. Stand-by generators are built for occasional short-duration emergency use only, and running one continuously shortens its life considerably.

Do I need a single-phase or three-phase?

Can a generator start automatically during loadshedding?

Units with an auto-start panel and changeover switch detect a grid failure and switch over automatically. Remote-start and synch-ready panels are also available depending on how you need to control or integrate the unit.
